Short Bio I have an interest in SME's from a governance perspective. Anecdotal evidence suggests that understanding what governance means for a business is lacking, meaning that the foundations of the business may not be strong. To date I have published in this field from a practical perspective, and that is where the relationships between academia and real life sometimes fall down. When it comes to the issue of law I also take a practical perspective because research tells us that SME's use their accountants as the first port of call, and lawyers are for when everything falls apart. I would really like more information available on the Companies Office website about governance.

Other Research Interests Corporate Governance is the field where my research falls, under which comes Corporate Social Responsibility, Business Ethics and Sustainability. My Phd topic looks at the role of regulation in prompting or incentivising companies to act in a more socially responsible manner.
